I know how short life is and how it can change on a whim. Being through this I don’t wait to make the most out of my life, I make the most out of it now. When I grew up we saved the best china dishes for the holidays and our best shoes and clothes for special events. I now believe that the time to wear those fancy shoes and sparkly tops is now. The time to eat toast and drink tea on the ornate china is now not later. Why wait?
There is a quote that says, “Stop waiting for the right time. Time is not waiting for you.” We as humans have a bad habit of waiting and saving. I mean, saving money is a great thing, saving time is also a wonderful habit but saving our clothes and dishes for the right occasion is something I believe we really need to break out from. There is nothing better than eating toast off fine china. Why are you waiting to use your wedding china? Until you have that long awaited dinner party? Why are you not wearing those expensive jeans? Until you lose ten pounds? Think of all the times we have put something off until the right time arrives and let me ask you has the right time come?
I am here to tell you that we need to learn to just relax and know that it is ok to use the best china dishes for everyday and that hey why not wear a sparkly top for dinner more than once? Life is short and we just never know what is in store for us. We must learn to start living our best life. This would include going out of our way to help others less fortunate than us or simply giving someone a smile that can actually change their day. We need to start being aware of the opportunity that surrounds us but often our blinders are on and we unaware of what is staring at us in the face. How often do you randomly talk to a stranger? Do you talk to the person in the seat next to you at a movie? on an airplane? at the gym?in line at the supermarket?Do you have a service or a product that can be of help to others? Isn’t it selfish to keep it all to ourselves? Part of being successful is helping others achieve success, in fact I think that this is one of the best parts of success.
So this summer, let’s commit to start living our best life and start making the most out of it, no matter what. Find something each day that you are grateful for no matter how small. Compliment one person a day, eat something you have always wanted to try, and go ahead and have your toast on your very best china. What are we afraid of?
