I don’t know about you, but I feel like I am in some weird sci fi movie that I cannot wake up from! These are certainly strange and unsettling times that can if we let it make us crazy and frightened. The daily information is so constant and overwhelming that I have actually stopped watching the news. Sure, I am up to date with what is going on but honestly, I do not need to see it every hour of everyday as I have recognised that it is not good for me.
So how do we keep it together right now? Most of us are on lockdown , staying home and going out only to go for a walk. I have stopped going out for groceries and I am getting it delivered instead. Here is what is helping me, I hope it can help you guys too.
- Stop watching the news and reading about the coronovirus online. Keep informed, cases will increase hourly especially with all the people they are now testing that is to be expected, but get the facts and turn off!!
- Exercise. At a time like this it is crucial we stay healthy and active and being confined in our homes can make that difficult. Fortunately, we can walk or run outdoors, while social distancing plus there are numerous online training sites and apps to download and follow along. We all know that exercise has been scientifically proven to decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety.
- Learn something new. I just started a yoga app called Down Dog , it is free until April 1st. Never had an interest in Yoga at all, but hey now I have time so why not.
- Bake and cook and experiment with healthier recipes.
- Clean cupboards and drawers you have wanted to do for ages but have put off.
- Play board games and re connect with your family.
- Order food to be delivered to your door, support local businesses.
- Meditate and learn to breathe. It is super calming. Simple Habit is a great app with incredible meditations .
- Face time friends and family. I face time my sister in Paris daily and my other sister in Australia. It is a great way to stay connected and “see” people instead of just texting.
- Know that this will pass, it might take some time, but it will pass. Focus on what you can control right now, your food , your health, exercise, you mindset.
If you would like to share your tips I would love to hear from you. If you would like to learn more about a healthier lifestyle reach out to me . I am a firm believer that educating people to be healthier on all aspects of their lifestyle is the way to go.
