Is our mind being kind ?
One thing that I have learnt over the years is that Healthy living from the inside out starts not with our food but with our mindset?
How are you talking to yourself? Would you talk to others the way you talk to yourself? Are you even listening to the chatter upstairs in your head??
For many of us, we are our harshest critics. We berate ourselves when we are not succeeding in the areas that we set out to do. We look in a mirror and see images of ourselves that are totally not true with the reality standing there. If we start a “diet” and break it, we chastise ourselves. If we do not reach our goals, we get mad and frustrated at ourselves. We start believing in our midset which is most probably set on the wrong dial!
If we want a change in any part of our life, we have to start listening to the voice upstairs and start putting it in its place…….at the back of the bus! I am guilty of a trash talking mindset, especially when it comes to my weight and my least favourite part of my body …. my thighs. My poor thighs have been called every name under the sun…by me! But what I have learnt is if I want to change direction I must change my mindset! I now look at my thighs as strong and healthy (and perhaps in my next life I will request long lean legs!)
I just finished a wonderful book by Jen Sincero, You are a Badass, How to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life.
What I love about this book is that it is real and down to earth with words we can all understand. To be a badass we need to:
- stop listening to the chatter
- stop doubting yourself
- retraining your mindset
- never compare yourself with others!!!
- be grateful
- have fun
I have a friend of mine that looks in the mirror and sees Elle Mcpherson . I applaud that mindset and have taken lessons from her. We are all different , we are all beautiful , bold and brilliant. No one but no one is perfect. But if we focus on our flaws, then we will always see our flaws. If we re train our minds which now is scientifically proven, (read The Power of Neuroplasticity to find out how) and be kind to ourselves ,we will be kinder people to others as well. Surround yourself with people who are not toxic and draining of all your energy. Find people you admire and go hang out with them, learn from them and take in all the positive vibes they radiate. Be grateful and practice daily gratitude as there are so any things we take for granted .
I am not saying that everyday we should wake up and be perky and Doris Day ready to tackle whatever comes our way , I am saying that if start with a conscious mindset, it will lead to amazing things in our life and that is half the battle with healthy living from the inside out.
We exercise our bodies to make us feel strong and to change them for the better, why is it that we are so reluctant to exercise our minds to change our mindset to make us strong?
I would love to hear how you talk to yourself?? Drop me a line and tell me why you think it is important to have a good mindset.
Would love to hear your story
