This weeks feature on Mothers with Many is a fellow triplet mother, Holly Bennett. Holly has two boys and a girl and watching her Instagram account reminds me a lot of when my three were young. Holly is another example of an exceptional mother raising three young children, working and just trying to find the balance in all of it. To find out more about the wonderful Holly you can follow her on IG @bennetttriplets.
Thanks Holly for opening up and sharing your journey
1)How many children do you have and what are their names and ages?
I have four year old triplets, Wyatt, Beau and Savannah.)
(on a personal note, I just LOVE the way Holly dresses her adorable kids!!)
2)What is your current occupation?
I am the owner/president of an insurance review business. I currently have about 20 employees.
3) What are the challenges of balancing work and parenting?
I think that I balance work and parenting ok. But , what I have struggled with is finding time for myself. I work full days and then come home and take care of the kids every night. Then I get up and do it all again the next day. My husband is in the military and was deployed for 6 months when the kids were young. During that time, I had to stay very structured.
4) What is your life philosophy?
This life is not something that I ever expected to be living and I often get asked how I do it. My Dad once said that you just deal with what is in front of you. I think that this is a pretty good life philosophy. You can accomplish hard things if you just take it one day at a time and just deal with what’s in front of you.
5) What is one piece of advice you would give other mothers and what is one thing you wish you would have known before having children?
Everyone is going to have advice for you, but you need to make the decisions that you feel are right and not worry about what you are being told. For example, I was told that cloth diapers would be impossible with three babies, but I did it. I was also told that I couldn’t possibly feed all three without formula, but I did that too. You do you and don’t worry about what others are going to think.
6) What is your greatest achievement apart from your kids so far?
I think my greatest achievement so far would be taking over my company. I always knew I had what it takes to run a business. Now, I am working for myself and proving it everyday.
7) What have you done that you thought you could never do?
Sadly, I think that my answer is IVF. I never thought I could give myself injections. I never though that I could afford it. When the Dr started talking about IVF I just cried because I thought we couldn’t do it financially. But where there’s a will, there is a way.
8) What books do you/did you like reading to your children?
I love reading them Dr Seuss. It was popular when I was a kid and still is popular today. I think anything you have as memories of a child is so great to be able to share with your children.
I totally agree, I loved reading as a child and loved reading to my kids. It really does encourage imagination and at the same time education. I know that Wyatt, Beau and Savannah enjoyed my book, Three Times the Fun and I am thrilled that it is now added to their reading collection.
