Thank you Mindy for sharing your story with us.
1. How many children do you have, name and ages and photo
I have one biological son who is now 12 years old and 5 step kids all married. I have 14 grandchildren and counting.
2. What is your current occupation?
I am an entrepreneur with several businesses. First all my life I’ve been a make up artist, I own a government accredited make up school, I do lash lifts and brow laminations, I am an independent consultant for Arbonne International, I do interior decor and took a home staging course as well. I started a mask and mask necklace business recently and now it’s growing into all accessories. (I was bored during the pandemic).
3. What are the challenges of balancing work and parenting?
I have many challenges balancing work and parenting. My biggest struggle is having fibromyalgia so I’m always in pain and tired. My biological son son spends half his time with me and wants my full attention when he’s here. My step kids and grandchildren all live in different cities and countries so there’s a lot of travel or full house when they visit. Because of all of these challenges, I’ve set myself up with a lot of flexibility and continue to work on ways to create passive income. This way I can work when I have the energy or fit work into my life. It’s so much less stressful and more fun.
(sounds like a great way to work)
4. What is your life philosophy?
Love what you do, share your gifts so others will benefit, give your best self especially in customer service, start somewhere. Have fun, bring joy and beauty to everyone.
5.What is a piece of advice you would give other mothers and what is one thing you wish you had known before having children?
Be kind to yourself, stop beating yourself up, no one is perfect all of the time and everything does work out for the best. Take care of yourself, you matter If you don’t do things for you, you won’t be able to care for your family. I knew nothing before having my child and my son was a Preemie. That being said I wish I knew what I was getting into, had better counselling as I was a single mother at the time. I wish I knew my life would change forever. I thought life would continue as is just with a baby in tow. NOT!!!!
6. What is your greatest achievement apart from your child/children so far?
Getting married after I had my baby. And building 2 amazing make up stores.
7. What have you done that you thought you could never do?
Had a child. I was told it could never happen. I had blocked Fallopian tubes and a bicornuate uterus. Then raising a child, I had no idea what was entailed. Getting married. I swore the only reason to get married was to have kids, designed my stores and home.
8. What books do you /did you like reading to your children?
Good Night Moon was our favourite. There were others I don’t remember all the names.
My kids loved Good Night Moon. I hope that you will enjoy reading my book Three Times The Fun to all your grandchildren as well.
Would love to hear your story
