This week our featured mother is Hanna Hajilou, an incredible food stylist with a young family of three children, a set of twins and a younger daughter. Hanna understands that as a mother it is very important to ask for help and to accept help that is offered! She is absolutely correct, so many of us think that it is a sign of weakness to ask for help but as mothers working or not, we know how important that help is.I love the fact that Hanna was brought up knowing that there was nothing they could not achieve if they wanted! You can check out Hanna’s incredible mouthwatering creations on her IG page @alatable.ca
Thanks Hanna for sharing your story with us.
1) How many children do you have and what are their ages?
I have four year old twins, Olivia and Luca, who were born in 2014 and were naturally conceived and two year old Lily born 2017 also naturally conceived.
2) What is your current occupation?
I am a food stylist and my Company name is À la table.
3) What are the challenges of balancing work and parenting?
Where do I begin? It’s very difficult to keep a balance and stay on schedule! But it takes organisation, discipline and will.
4) What is your life philosophy?
I am blessed to have three amazing children. But they don’t define me. I am more than a mother. I’m a wife, a daughter , an entrepreneur. My philosophy in life has always been , reach for the stars and nothing less.
5) What is one piece of advice you would give other mothers and what is one thing you wish you had known before having children?
Ask for help! Don’t think you can do it all. If you have to hire someone, do it. Even if it’s financially difficult, you will make it work because your mental and physical health is very important. Have people bring you meals, take care of the kids while you take a shower. Just accept the help.
6) What is your greatest achievement apart from your kids so far?
Being able to start a company with three kids under the age of three and not giving up. I’ve wanted to many times(trust me) but I didn’t. I kept pushing. I still am.
7) What have you done that you thought you could never do?
I was raised by the strongest woman I have ever known. There was no way we ever thought we couldn’t do something, it wasn’t in our vocabulary.
( I LOVE this philosophy!!)
8) What books do you/did you like reading to your children?
I love reading books from Caroline Church and of course Robert Munsch.
I also hope that Hanna will enjoy reading Three Times the Fun to her children and add that to her collection!
