One of my favourite foods!!!! There is nothing better than cutting into a perfect avocado! There are so many amazing benefits to eating avocados!
Did you know :
1.They are great for your eyes!! Yes! Avocados contain antioxidant lutein, which is an important part in eye health.
2. Avocados actually contain more potassium than bananas!! Who knew??? Potassium is great for controlling your muscles especially in the heart, so it helps in regulating your blood pressure!
3. We have all heard that avocado is the good kind of fat. That fat is the fat that lowers cholesterol , LDL the good cholesterol as opposed to HDL the bad cholesterol!
4. Avocados are high in phytochemicals which studies are now showing are great for prevention of cancer cells. According to fatty.com website :”A lot of evidence points to eating foods rich in phytochemicals and antioxidants to prevent the growth of various cancer cells.”
5. Avocados are great for their anti inflammatory properties, so eating avocados is terrific if you have inflammation such as arthritis.
6. We see a lot of skin care facial masks that contain avocado. This is because avocado is rich in Vitamin C and E and these are great for our skin to help with moisture and tone.
7. Avocado chocolate mousse is a wonderful alternative to traditional chocolate mousse which is high in fat and sugar. I love avocado chocolate mousse, super easy to make and when blended really well you can barely taste the avocado. My kids call it chocolate guacamole!
I got this recipe from Recipe from detoxinistta.com
- 1 avocado (ripe)
- 2 tablespoons raw cacoa powder (or cocoa powder)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (can add more but i did not think it was necessary)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons water
- Scoop the flesh of the avocado into a mini-food processor or blender. Add in the cacao powder, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup, vanilla, and water, and blend for a good few minutes until smooth.
- Taste the pudding and add more maple syrup if needed. (Or anything other extra flavorings you like!) You can serve this right away, or put it in an airtight container in the fridge to chill.
- Leftovers , if there are any, can be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 48 hours. The pudding can sometimes separate, but stirring it should restore the texture.
