We have become much more conscientious at reading food labels and understanding what fats we should and should not eat, what is considered a healthy carb and so forth but I feel we still need a lot of work in reading labels on products that we put on our bodies. ๐งด๏ธ
For years, I did not care what I used. If a product was recommended to me by a friend or my aesthetician I would just go and buy it and not question what was in it! โ
Did you know what women on an average use 12 products a day which translates into 168 chemicals on their body!! Men use on an average 8 products which is about 80 chemicalsโ๏ธ
It is a staggering number! It is also a lot of toxins we are putting on our bodies.โ ๏ธ
Our skin is our largest organ, anything we put on our skin is absorbed quickly into bloodstream, so I want to be sure that what I am using is safe, clean , cruelty free, and vegan.
The skincare industry is an unregulated industry, did you know that:
โ the US bans only 11 chemicals from their skincare
โCanada bans around 300
โ EU ban 1400!!
With out much information to help us what then should we look for when trying to choose safer, cleaner personal care products? Here are some tips for you:
โ vegan certified
โ cruelty free
โ free of artificial preservatives, colours, fragrances
โ free of paragons, phthalates ,mineral oil (just to name a few of the toxins.)
โ free of PEG (polyethylene glycols)
