This week our feature mother is Roxanne White. Roxanne has two year old triplets, two boys and a girl. This fabulous fellow triplet mama also works part time as a wellness nurse practitioner. Roxanne works at a wellness centre a few days a week, caring for people then she is at home with her gorgeous children caring for them . It is difficult and scary to care for three preemie babies as they are so small and delicate. Roxanne was super grateful she had family help to get her through the most difficult times.
You can follow Roxanne and the triplets’ adventures on her IG @triplet_mommy_2017
Thanks so much Roxanne for sharing with us!
1) How many children do you have, name and ages.
I have three children. They are triplets and are two years old. Their names are Haven, Spencer and Riley.
2) What is your current occupation?
I am a mom and a part time wellness practitioner.
3) What are the challenges of balancing work and parenting?
I work twice a week and I have family watch them while I’m at work. I find my workdays less stressful than my days at home with the triplets. It is basically my time away and a break for me.
4) What is your life philosophy?
I try to always have a positive mind set. I know these days are long but the years are short! I also realise that I am extremely blessed to have these three and I never want to forget that even on the hard days.
(absolutely true, the years fly by at such speed , enjoy the toddler years!)
5) What is a piece of advice you would give other mothers and what is one thing you wish you would have known before having children?
We are on a pretty strict schedule and that has helped us and the kids tremendously. For example, when they were infants we would wake them all up and feed the all at once(or back to back). It just depended on if I had help or not. They always napped and went to bed at the same time. I also highly recommend sleep training and they are now excellent sleepers throughout the night. I wish I knew how much work it was to pump for three babies. I only needed to supplement a little bit toward the end and I felt like a milk machine. I pumped for a little over a year and I am very proud of that. It wasn’t easy.
(Hats off to you Roxanne, I didn’t pump and cannot even imagine how difficult and exhausting it would have been.)
6) What is your greatest achievement so far apart from your children?
Becoming a nurse practitioner and now having my full practice authority license. I also have my figure back after triplets… so it is possible to get back into shape.Things are a little different now due to mild diastasis recti and my belly looks different.
( diastasis recti is the partial or complete separation of the “six pack ” muscles that meet in the middle of your stomach.)
7) What have you done that you thought you could never do?
Since I struggle with fertility issues, I would say making three tiny humans at once was something I thought I could never do. Even one seemed like a difficult task.
8) What books do you like reading to your children?
We currently like the picture books with description. They love pointing to what we ask for in the book.
Reading is so magical for kids imagination! So happy to see the kids also enjoyed my book about triplets!
